Golf on Kauaʻi.
Eight courses across the island — Pacific cliff-tops on the North Shore, championship tournament hosts in Poʻipū, and a municipal beloved by locals on the East Side. Tee times, photos, and the local context on which course matches your trip.
Wailua Golf Course
This municipal course delivers oceanfront golf without resort prices. The 1st green sits beachside while the 2nd hole runs along the entire coastline. Perfect for all skill levels, it's where locals play – offering authentic Hawaiian golf with unbeatable value and stunning Pacific views.
Kiahuna Golf Club
Play through living history at this Robert Trent Jones II course, where ancient Hawaiian village ruins and lava rock formations frame the fairways. The challenging narrow fairways and fast greens provide intermediate-level play with mountain and ocean views throughout your round.
Poipu Bay Golf Course
Championship golf meets dramatic Pacific cliffs at this Robert Trent Jones Jr. course. The legendary 16th hole—dubbed "Pebble Beach of the Pacific"—sits on oceanfront bluffs near ancient Hawaiian ruins, combining challenging play with cultural heritage.
Kukuiolono Golf Club
This historic 9-hole course sits atop an extinct volcano, delivering panoramic views since 1928. Wide, forgiving fairways and affordable rates make it accessible for beginners seeking authentic Hawaiian golf culture without resort pricing.
Puakea Golf Course
This Robin Nelson-designed course transitions from residential fairways into lush tropical jungle with dramatic ravines and streams. You'll get resort-quality golf without resort prices, featuring that famous Jurassic Park backdrop. The layout suits intermediate players looking for authentic Kauai golf and genuine local character.
The Ocean Course at Hokuala
Jack Nicklaus designed this course with over half a mile of continuous oceanfront holes—the longest stretch in Hawaii—positioned on dramatic cliffs with waves crashing below. The front nine winds through tropical forests before the ocean-facing back nine that commands attention with its coastal views.
Princeville Makai Golf Club
Championship oceanfront golf on Kauai's dramatic North Shore bluffs. This Robert Trent Jones Jr. design winds through native woodlands with views of Hanalei Bay. The clifftop par-3s and Seashore Paspalum greens deliver a Hawaiian golf experience that justifies the investment.
The Club at Kukui‘ula
This exclusive Tom Weiskopf design on Kauai's South Shore delivers championship golf with ocean views. Watch spinner dolphins leap beyond the 14th fairway while humpback whales breach in the distance. Premium sand-capped fairways meet the coastline at this ultra-private course.
Picking where to play.
The North Shore courses (Princeville Makai, the Westin's old layout) are the postcard rounds — Pacific backdrops on every other hole. The South Shore (Poipu Bay, Kiahuna, the Club at Kukuiʻula) gets more sun, less rain, and hosts the bigger tournaments. East Side (Wailua, Puakea) is where locals actually play — lower green fees, faster pace, and Wailua's ocean-side back nine punches well above its price tag.
If you're a serious player, Princeville Makai and Poipu Bay are the bucket-list rounds. If you want a walkable round on cheap green fees, Kukuiolono in Kalāheo is a 9-hole hidden gem. The Club at Kukuiʻula is members-only — staying in a Kukuiʻula condo is the only way to play it.
