Located on Kauai's east side near Anahola, Papa'a Bay is a local spot that stays relatively uncrowded. This rocky bay offers snorkeling potential when conditions cooperate, but this isn't a beach for beginners.

**Swimming and snorkeling here are all about timing.** You'll want calm ocean conditions to enjoy this spot safely. The currents can get strong, so this is experienced-swimmer territory. When it's flat, the snorkeling around the coral can be rewarding, but always use the buddy system and never go out alone. If conditions look sketchy, save it for another day.
