About Koke'e Natural History Museum
Head to Koke'e Natural History Museum in the heart of Koke'e State Park, about a mile past marker 15 on Highway 550, to explore Kauai's natural heritage.
The museum features fascinating exhibits on local flora and fauna, including beautiful 1885 botanical prints by Isabella Sinclair, mounted displays of native forest birds, and hands-on samples of wood from Hawaiian trees found nowhere else in the world. The displays explain the complex relationships between native and introduced species.
Admission is free, though donations support the museum's operations. It's open daily from 9am to 4:30pm, making it a solid choice for a rainy day or before heading out on trails.
The location works well as a stop on your way to or from Waimea Canyon. Parking is available right outside, and the staff can point you toward the best hiking trails and viewpoints in the area.
