About Ha'ena State Park
Aloha! Hā'ena State Park is located at the end of Kuhio Highway on Kauai's North Shore and serves as the gateway to the legendary Kalalau Trail along the Nāpali Coast. You'll find Ke'e Beach here, ideal for snorkeling when conditions are calm, along with sea caves that draw photographers.
Whether you're hiking to Hanakapiai Beach or tackling the full Kalalau Trail, this is your starting point for some of Hawaii's most breathtaking scenery. The park also features restored taro fields that offer insight into traditional Hawaiian culture.
Here's what you need to know: reservations are required, and there's an entry fee. The park operates daily from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Arrive early—parking fills up fast, especially on weekends. The shuttle service, when available, makes access easier. Bring plenty of water and reef-safe sunscreen. The North Shore experiences heavy traffic, and single-lane bridges on the drive require patience to navigate.
